The entity has to apply for the Shop Act Licence online license to the chief inspector of that particular location within 30 days of incorporation of business operations.  The applicant must provide certain details, which are mandatory like name of the applicant, name and address of the shop, the number of employees and the type of establishment and some other details which varies from state to state.  After verification by the concerned authorities, the license will be issued.

The renewal of shop and establishment should be done at the business place and should be renewed periodically within the prescribed time.If any entity wishes to close their business, they have to inform formally to the chief inspector in writing copy before 15 days of closing the business.  Then the entity’s license will be canceled and the name of the entity will be taken away by the chief inspector from the register.  This also applies to the home based work.

 

PROCESS FOR APPLYING AND GETTING THE SHOP AND ESTABLISHMENT LICENSE IN INDIA

 

·         The applicant has to download the application from the state’s official website where he is willing to start his business.

 

·         He should furnish all the essential details such as the name of the entity, the applicant’s name, employees’ details, the address of the place where he is going to start the business with NOC and if the premises is a rental one, the rental agreement and his PAN card also needs to be attached.

 

·         After providing all details, the applicant should submit the application along with the specified fees to the chief inspector.

 

·         Then the concerned higher officials will verify all the details and documents, which are provided by the applicant.

 

·         If all the criteria mentioned in the application are satisfied as per the rules of the act, the Shop and Establishment License certificate will be issued to the entity.  For issuance of the certificate, the period will be 15 to 20 working days, but it varies from state to state to complete the whole procedure.
